From 500,000 to 1,000,000 views starting with no subscribers

Becoming a “YouTuber” has to be one of the most competitive things. However, I’ve worked with some YouTubers, and we grew our views organically with time.

As a person who works with strategy, I worked on cleanly assembling the videos to execute our ideas engagingly.

The shaping

Uploading good content is very important, but you need to get your viewers to click on the video first. To do so, I would recommend spending at least an hour crafting your title and thumbnail.

Lets look at an example:

Looking at the options, you can tell that option 1 had a more aesthetically pleasing look. The look was simple, clean, and straightforward. Option 2 had a more disorganized look to it. Even if option 2 had a more insightful video, the thumbnail itself wouldn’t draw me in to watch it.

The power within the thumbnails is precisely what draws people in, and it’s because youtube viewers are more visual learners.

The Cross-culture Media

The “cross-culture media” has made an enormous difference whenever we’d publish content. In other words, cross-culture means using multiple platforms to advertise your videos.

The tactic I would use is to post a small part of the video’s climax on Instagram and link below the video to create this hook between the viewer and the content itself. After watching the short clip, the viewer is now hooked and will sometimes click to see the whole thing — this way, you’re increasing your youtube views from other exterior platforms and possibly gaining a new attraction.
The best thing about this is that you can use this tactic in multiple ways. I’ve personally also used Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram reels to create this domino effect for our views.

Creating a support group

When I was working in this pop-up event, I learned that many of them had business connections, influencers, and friends to promote their work whenever they’d publish a project. So learning to network and create an atmosphere of support between you and your group will automatically help improve your viewership.

The importance of being a team player and learning to support others is a great skill to have anywhere and everywhere. However, support is only reciprocated if you learn to clap for others until it becomes your time for others to clap for you.
